For Josie's 5th birthday we hosted an art party and invited five of her friends to join us in celebrating. Josie has expressed the wish of wanting to be an artist when she grows up, so we think she had a great time at her party - our projects included making scratch foam prints (thanks to glittergoods for the idea), a big cat scene craft (art work by daddy), and decorating Josie's Lincoln log ice cream cake. The kids snack's were served on artist palettes and all asked for seconds on the cake (thanks mom for helping me make it - it was my first attempt at making a rolled cake and was definitely a prettier cake after the kids decorated it!). The kids did great (for many it was their first "drop-off" party) and we had so much fun and did great thanks to help from "Auntie" Kristin who came to help out.
We can't believe that our "baby" is five!!! Happy Birthday sweet girl! We love you more each day.

love, love, love their granddaddy
Have I mentioned how much the girls love their granddaddy?!!! I didn't take many pictures of grandma & granddaddy's most recent visit, but this one sums up where the girls like to be best - near their granddaddy! Ada has joined Josie's fan club for granddaddy and often decides that we should head to his house when we get in the car to go someplace. And when mama is trying to enforce a nap time (Ada is fighting those these days!), Ada often calls out to granddaddy to come get her!
So thanks Dad for loving our little ladies so well and for everything that you do for them and for us!!!

Valentine Scones
Ben had the girls for valentine's morning (I was celebrating my good friend Kristin's b-day with a visit to her house!), and he surprised them with flowers, gifts, and of course red, pink, and purple-sprinkled scones!!! (Ada especially loved the sprinkled section of the scone and left the rest for later!)
my funny valentines
We tried out some potato print valentines this year and of course, at Josie's request, made another round of Pooch Pops (recipe/idea from Parents magazine). The girls loved them and we made enough to give as valentines to Josie's classmates.
So long, snow!
Well, we still have mounds of snow on the ground and on the streets, etc...but I think we've seen the last of it for this season. I just had to post a few more pics of the girls in the snow to remember a fun day of sledding in the backyard with our neighbors and to show that Ada finally put her fears behind her and decided that sledding was fun!

The Countdown has Begun!
Josie has been so looking forward to her birthday...I think since around Ada's birthday back in October! Finally, finally her birthday month has come, and to celebrate that it is now February, we have made a birthday chain to count down to that most wonderful day - February 24!!! I can't believe that our "baby" is going to be FIVE.
Want Some SNOW?
We've been enjoying the last of a series of snowstorms - which have brought another 12 inches or so of snow our way (with more to come this weekend)! We're not quite prepared for this kind of snow accumulation, but thankfully we were able to purchase a sled, but have still been bundling up in our makeshift snow gear (thankfully supplemented by some hand-me-downs from cousins Corryn & Kaylin). Josie has been enjoying her first sled rides but Ada's not quite sure about the whole business and is a little fearful of snow plows!
Uncle Dave makes us Giggle!
Thanks parents, G.G., and Uncle Dave for a fun weekend at your home - the girls, as always, had a ton of fun.
